The 1st experiment recommend by Fred Westlund has been the experiment #4 fully described in his web site at : http://www.westlundtech.com/section9.htm.

<< It had been discovered that thin plates have a weaker attraction for charge electrons than thick plates of the same material. This produces a differential voltage. It was decided to measure the differential voltage using different thickness' of thin plates. Since the electron flow produced by the thick and thin plates was extremely small, the experiment utilized a technique that is essentially a Wheatstone Bridge. The voltage produced by the plates was determined by measuring the reverse voltage that would stop the electron flow. This is the same reverse EMF technique that is used to measure the voltage produced by a thermocouple.>>

You will find below my first attempt of replication of the Westlund's experiment #4. All the informations are published free with courtesy of Fred G. Westlund.

So, I have built the Westlund's device that I have named "the Collector" according to the design. The Collector is composed of a stack of multi-layers :

The Collector has been put 3 plastic isolators placed in a triangle arrangement.

The electrical connections has been set according to the original Westlund diagram #10 see below :

Below, the Experiment #4 setup that I have done :


To measure the Collector voltage, I have used a fully ungrounded oscilloscope
Fluke 123 self-powered by its own battery.


TEST #1 - Experimental Results

Lab conditions : Temp 19°C, Hygrometry : 30%

Notes : Today, on May 9, 2004, I have not yet been able to measure a significant increase of the differential voltage as claimed by Westlund.

More tests and measurements need to be soon conducted...
